Carley Hyder

I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and the owner of Great Heights, Calm Minds Psychology. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and have been practicing as a Registered Psychologist since 2012.

I specialize in counselling children, teens, young adults, and families, and I also complete full psycho-educational assessments for learning disabilities, giftedness, and behavioural concerns, including ADHD and Autism.

I believe that connection comes first. My goal is to help clients feel comfortable, confident, and supported while we work through the hard things together. I also believe in leading by example and in the importance of repairing when mistakes happen.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy for Adolescents (DBT-A), and Mindfulness. I also supervise Provisional Psychologists and students both within and outside the clinic.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, cross-country skiing, and gardening. I am also the parent of three children, and I appreciate how much they continue to teach me both personally and professionally
